Ferragosto – Little Italy Goes Spaghetti Western

Little Italy’s biennial bash drew several hundred revelers flaunting cowboy/girl and indian garb in a throwback to the days of the Wild West. This fifth edition of what is billed as Little Italy’s biggest party of the year featured fare from several of the neighborhood’s popular eateries, including Isola Pizza, Ristorante Illando, Queenstown Public House, Bencotto, Mona Lisa Deli & Restaurant, Civico 1845, Pappalecco and Caffe Italia.

Amici Park, the site of the event, featured old west decor including cowboy western storefronts depicting a saloon, general store, post office and dance hall, as well as a casino, chuckwagon and mechanical bull rodeo.

The evening included entertainment by the Walden Dahl Blue Grass Band featuring a tribute to country western superstars, along with a Kumeyaay Tribal Pow-Wow and traditional blessing.

Proceeds from Ferragosto benefit Washington Elementary School, Our Lady of the Rosary Church and the Little Italy Association.

Miss the fun? Here’s a look back.
