Ye Scallywag! Rocks Waterfront Park

County’s Bayside Park Hosts Punk-Rock Bash

Saturday’s debut punk-rock festival Ye Scallywag! brought a mostly mosh-friendly lineup of musical groups, including Southern California favorites Goldfinger, Bad Religion and NOFX, to Waterfront Park. Also featured were punk bands Wakrat, Reel Big Fish and Against Me!

Waterfront Park’s growing popularity as a premiere special events venue, particularly for large scale outdoor music festivals, was bolstered by the successful day-long production. In addition to the music, Ye Scallywag! featured craft breweries and artisan wineries.

A collaboration between Laguna Hills’ Synergy Global Energy, Orange County’s Brew Ha Ha Productions and San Diego radio stations 91X-FM and KFM-BFM 100.7, Ye Scallywag!’s debut at Waterfront Park follows four successful CRSSD electronic music festivals at the bayside site. No word yet on the next installment of Ye Scallywag!

By now you must be wondering just what the hell is a scallywag? Well, it’s something like a crusty old pirate. Though you might prefer the Urban Dictionary’s more detailed definition: “A person who is known to be a treacherous lying son-of-bitch, and usually smells bad.”
